Obesity and type 2 diabetes have been two of the biggest challenges in public health for years. The COVID-19 pandemic has made these challenges even greater, as persons with obesity or diabetes are proving highly susceptible to the disease.
Yet at the same time, increased uptake of telehealth services and other innovations have proven valuable in treating patients with obesity or diabetes during the pandemic. A host of other products, services, and care models are also emerging that could point the way towards improved prevention and treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes in the years ahead.
As stakeholders throughout the health care system reconsider their priorities in the new year, we explored how health care innovations in obesity and diabetes management may play a larger role in the post-COVID future.
