The staff additions align with NEHI’s national growth and impact, which have been steadily growing since its founding in 2002. Judy Phalen, MPH, joined NEHI in January as Senior Program Director. She directs multiple major programs in NEHI’s portfolio of action-oriented and policy initiatives. She came to NEHI from Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where she served as the Associate Director of the Health Information Technology Resource Center, and previously as the Deputy Director of the Health e-Technologies Initiatives. She has extensive experience in program administration, planning, and technical assistance. Ms. Phalen received a Bachelor’s degree with distinction in sociology/psychology, and a Master’s degree in public health, both from the University of Michigan. Larry Bernard joined NEHI in February as Senior Director of Communications. He ensures that NEHI’s research reports and briefings reach policy-makers, health care policy stakeholders, and NEHI’s broad membership. He is responsible for creating and implementing strategic communications programs, and is the principal liaison to the news media. Mr. Bernard previously worked in strategic communications at Amgen and Pfizer prior to joining NEHI. He earned Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. “We are extremely fortunate to have Judy and Larry join NEHI,” said Wendy Everett, NEHI Chief Executive Officer. “They bring further excellence to our mission to identify and promote innovations that improve the quality and lower the costs of health care. We are delighted to have them on our team.” NEHI recently expanded its name and launched a new website as it strengthens its national membership and focuses its research on innovation in five areas of critical importance to national health care and health reform. NEHI’s research portfolio includes improving health care delivery, advancing technologies, reforming payment systems, ensuring the responsible use of medications, and promoting health and wellness. NEHI’s new website, www.nehi.net, features improved navigation to access the health policy institute’s research, publications and events, and an expanded password-protected web portal for exclusive use by NEHI members across the country. ### About NEHI |
