NEHI Names Wendy Warring as President and CEO

NEHI NAMES WENDY WARRING AS PRESIDENT AND CEO 

BOSTON, MA (December 9, 2019) – NEHI (Network for Excellence in Health Innovation) – a national nonprofit, nonpartisan organization committed to advancing innovations that improve health, enhance the quality of health care, and achieve greater value for the money spent  – announced today that its board of directors has unanimously selected Wendy Warring to serve as the organization’s next President and CEO. Warring has extensive experience with this mission, having spent most of her career working to improve access to high quality care in both the public and private sectors. She will assume the President and CEO position on January 6, 2020, leaving a position she held for the past decade as Senior Vice President of Network Development and Strategic Partnerships at Boston Children’s Hospital.  

“We are delighted to announce that Wendy Warring has accepted the CEO role for NEHI,” said Dr. Murray Ross, Chair of NEHI’s Board of Directors. “NEHI was founded almost twenty years ago to create a forum where leaders from all health care sectors could identify, debate and seek solutions to common health care issues, translating these into actionable policies and programs. Warring’s extensive leadership experience developing partnerships with a diverse set of health care stakeholders and her understanding of the challenges facing the health care system will serve NEHI and its members extraordinarily well. We know Wendy will take on her role as CEO with a deep commitment to NEHI’s mission. Her expertise and energy will surely enable her to extend NEHI’s ambitions in this next chapter.” 

In her role as President and CEO, Warring will drive the organization’s strategic agenda and priorities, work closely with its board and members to identify key issues, and promote NEHI’s research and policy recommendations.

“I am honored to be selected as the next President and CEO of NEHI,” Warring said. “NEHI, with its diverse board and coalition of members, is in a unique position to address and impact some of health care’s critical issues – those that require collaboration and creativity from stakeholders in multiple sectors of the health care industry. I am looking forward to working with NEHI members and partners to identify those issues and develop informed and innovative policy approaches.”

Warring began her career in health care when she served as the Commissioner of Medicaid in Massachusetts from 2000-2003. She then held executive positions at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and UMass Memorial Health Care before joining Boston Children’s Hospital. Warring has also practiced as a lawyer, first as a litigator in a private firm, and then as counsel in federal and state venues. Warring received her bachelor of arts degree from Brown University and holds a Juris Doctor degree from Yale University Law School.

Warring currently serves as Board Chair for Community Catalyst, a national non-profit advocacy organization dedicated to building consumer and community leadership to achieve quality affordable health care for all. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the National Institute for Children’s Health Quality, a national leader for improving the health of children by working with partners to adopt data-driven quality improvement methods and other effective change strategies.
