NEHI's spotlighting Advanced ICU Care

Advanced ICU Care, the leader in acute care telemedicine services, was founded by physicians that recognized a growing need in the medical community. “With more and more patients requiring Critical Care and a shrinking number of Intensivists to fulfill that need,” Dr. Isabelle Kopec, Advanced ICU Care co-founder, explains, “We saw a need for a solution that could scale quickly and effectively.” The group turned to technology to enable the development of the nation’s largest tele-ICU.

Operating from nine integrated care centers, Advanced ICU Care intensivists care for more patients each year than any other ICU. Care teams partner with more than 90 hospitals throughout the United States, caring for over 67,000 ICU patients last year alone and saving more than 1,800 lives.

Partner hospitals realize a variety of benefits from tele-ICU care with Advanced ICU Care. In addition to reduced mortality, improved clinical outcomes include shorter patient stays, reduced time on a ventilator, and improved compliance with clinical best practices. Nurses are provided additional support with the ability to reach an intensivist almost instantly. Physicians know that their patients are under the care of an intensivist even when they are not on shift, decreasing on-call hours, and supporting greater work/life balance.

More recently, Advanced ICU Care introduced cardiac telemetry services, assisting systems, and individual hospitals with monitoring throughout their facilities.
