The importance of innovation in health care cannot be overstated, especially in light of the pandemic. Innovative medical treatments, as well as innovations in health care delivery, are essential to increasing life-saving treatments and improving patient outcomes. The pandemic has, however, also highlighted inequities in access to and adoption of innovations, an issue that includes affordability, but extends to systemic barriers to health equity, resulting in disparities in health for individuals of color as well as other underserved populations in our country. NEHI has always focused on work to accelerate access to innovations that add value to our health care system. We continue this core function by pursuing projects that incorporate the role that innovations must play in improving health equity.
