It’s Time to Plan For Value-Based Delivery Of Obesity Treatment And Support

Obesity in the United States continues to grow: half of all American adults may have obesity by 2030 - just seven years from now. Surging demand for new anti-obesity medications raises critical questions for U.S. health care: who should be actively treated for obesity, for how long, and at what cost?  Should obesity be the next major focus of population health management and value-based payment in our health care system?

NEHI and a team of collaborators recently issued a call to action in Health Affairs Forefront: “It’s Time to Plan for Value-based Delivery of Obesity Treatment and Support.”  Our call to action is based on a framework outlined in our March report, “Envisioning Value-based Provider Payment for Obesity Treatment and Support.”

Join us on June 8 for a webinar in which our panel of collaborators and guest experts will discuss how our health care system can meet the growing demand and unmet need for safe, effective treatment and care of obesity.

Our Panel:

  • Angela Fitch, MD, President, Obesity Medicine Association; Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer, Knownwell Health
  • Florencia Halperin, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Form Health
